We really struggled to find a wedding venue that felt like us, but when we came across the marquee located in the private surrounds of Gardens House in the Royal Botanical Gardens Melbourne it felt so right. However, very quickly the overwhelming reality of just how much of a blank space we were working with really started to set in.
I knew within five minutes of speaking with Lucy that we needed a wedding stylist. Lucy’s experience, insight and approachability were remarkable but most of all she made us feel completely at ease. In her hands, it felt like our garden marquee vision would actually come to life, it stopped feeling stressful and from that point onwards, and all our planning sessions to follow, I really began to enjoy the process of planning a wedding.
My brief to Lucy was simple – “you do what you think will work best.” We loosely talked of a colour palette and an overall vision but I left the intricate details and planning to Lucy and the team. I was passionate about having a wedding that wasn’t cookie-cutter, I didn’t want anything that had been done a hundred times before. Lucy understood entirely.
On the day…I was blown away. And I cried, tears rolling down my cheeks because it was just so incredibly beautiful. White gloss dancefloor, basket chandeliers, cascading flowers and full size trees. The space felt warm and luxurious but reflective of the overall surrounds and the time of the year. It created the background for the most epic dance party and a truly special experience for our family and friends.
I cannot recommend Lucy and her team more highly. They are passionate, perfectionists and genuinely care about their clients. I will forever be grateful for the heart and soul Styled by Varu poured into our wedding day.
